DBU Eyes Third Straight LSC Quarterfinals Appearance Against West Texas A&M

COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF

DBU secured a 2-1 win over Texas A&M International in a dramatic match that saw a penalty and a red card swing the momentum. After a scoreless first half, the Patriots took the lead in the 63rd minute, only for TAMIU to quickly equalize. A penalty kick by Peyton Voelker put DBU back on top as the Patriots held firm to claim the victory. With Wednesday's win and West Texas A&M's victory, DBU secures the No. 5 seed for next Saturday's LSC quarterfinals at West Texas A&M.



PATRIOT STORYLINES 
- Saturday's matchup will be the Patriots third straight trip to the Lone Star Conference Tournament since 2022.
- DBU faced West Texas A&M in the LSC Semifinals with the match ending in a 1-1. THe Patriots moved on after a PK shootout win, 5-4. 
- Last year's run to the finals was DBU's first ever trip to the final championship match. The Patriots ultimately fell to Midwestern State 5-0. 
- With his goal in the 76th minute on Wednesday Peyton Voelker notched his 31st career goal.  The Patriots had their first penalty kick attempt of the season in the 76th minute. 
- 17 of the Patriots 22 goals have come in the second half this year.
- Bruno Carrera made his 67th career appearance in the match, tying him with Riley Alvey for 5th place on the program's all-time career match appearances list.


SCOUTING WEST TEXAS A&M
- The Buffs LSC run last year ended in the semifinals after a penalty kick shootout loss (5-4) to the Patriots. 
- This will be West Texas A&M's sixth straight trip to the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament after joining the conference in 2019. 
- The Buffs are third in the conference in total assists (23). 
- Theo Bennetts leads the conference and the nation in penalty kicks (1).
- Matteo Landais is third in the LSC for shots per game (2.71). 
- Luke Southerington is ranked seventh in the conference for total saves (40). 



SERIES HISTORY 
West Texas A&M leads the all-time series, 11-1-1, against DBU. The last matchup ended in a 2-1 win for the Patriots on October 19, 2024. This will be the 13th matchup between the Buffs and the Patriots.
