No. 3 STUNT Opens Patriot Classic With Shutout Win Over UT Tyler

DBU STUNT opened their 2024 Patriots Classic Tournament with a 19-0 victory over UT Tyler on Thursday at the Burg Center. The win over UTT moves the Patriots to 2-0 on the season.

FINAL SCORE (DBU - 19, UTT - 0)
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 2-0 For the first time, DBU performed routine 8. The Patriots hit the partner stunt but did not receive the point. Despite not receiving the point, the sideline continued to be excited and proud of the work their teammates exuded on the mat.

Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 4-0 This was a very confident quarter for DBU. They continued to focus on the technical details of each routine. Their sideline energy was unmatched, motivating the athletes on the mat to give it their all in every routine.

Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 7-0 Coming back from halftime, DBU remained a strong competitor, receiving 3 out of 4 possible points. One athlete who stood out during this quarter was true freshman Addison Hatfield. "Addie was thrown into a few new upper-level tumbles for this weekend. She took on the challenge and executed her tumbles very well. I could not ask for more from a first year." says Interim Head Coach Mattie Royal.

Quarter 4 - Team Routine Final Score: 19-0 The DBU Patriots finished this game incredibly strong, winning all 12 possible points in the last quarter. "Going into this game, we were focused on our confidence," said Junior Krista Kizer. "We individually focused on our job, which helped us come together and win each point. This team has such a heart and care for each other and that was felt today."
