LAST TIME OUT
The DBU Women's Tennis team brought in the 2024 spring season with two wins and one loss in Conway, Arkansas. The Lady Patriots defeated Ouachita Baptist 4-3 Thursday and suffered a 2-5 defeat against Southern Arkansas Friday before defeating Henderson State 4-0.Â
In Thursday's win over the Tigers, the Lady Patriots' Leonie Schondelmaier claimed a 6-2,6-3 win over Ouachita Baptist's Austynn Crocker at the line 1 singles position. In doubles play,
Isabella Arana Rios and
Sofia Teran teamed up for a 6-4 win at line 1, while
Caroline Hudson and
Madalyn Smelley (6-4) and
Sarah Castleberry and
Emily Buchanan (6-1) teamed up to also win in doubles.Â
Leonie Schondelmaier picked up a singles win at line 1 in Friday's defeat versus Southern Arkansas. At the same time, Isabella Aran Rios also picked up a singles win at the line 4 in straight sets.
Caroline Hudson and
Madalyn Smelley captured DBU's lone win in doubles in a 6-3 victory.Â
On Saturday, Leonie Schondelmaier claimed a 6-3, 7-6 victory at the line 1 spot over Henderson State's Mulan Kamoe. At the same time,
Caroline Hudson and
Madalyn Smelley each secured a win at the line 2 and 3 positions. In doubles play,
Caroline Hudson and
Madalyn Smelley picked up a 6-3 win at the line 1 position.
Sarah Castleberry and
Emily Buchanan also notched a 6-4 victory, capping off scoring at the line 2 position.Â

PATRIOT STORYLINES
- The Lady Patriots return to action this weekend when they host three matches against Texas Wesleyan, Texas A&M-Texarkana, and Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Arlington Tennis Center.
- Through three matches, DBU is a combined 8-7 in singles play and owns a 6-2 mark in doubles.
- The team of Caroline Hudson and Emily Buchanan is a perfect 3-0 in line 3 doubles. Leonie Schondelmaier is a perfect 3-0 in line 1 singles.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The Lady Patriots will face Texas Wesleyan and Texas A&M Texarkana on Friday.Â
Texas Wesleyan competes at the NAIA level and is out to a 0-1 start this spring, while Texas A&M-Texarkana is an NAIA program that is 1-1 through their first few matches.
On Saturday, the Lady Patriots will face Southeastern Oklahoma State, who is out to a 1-0 start.Â
