STUNT Defeats Texas, 15-10

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU STUNT program was back in action on Friday and posted a 15-10 win over the University of Texas. The win is their third straight to open the 2024 season.

FINAL SCORE (DBU - 15, Texas - 10) 
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 3-1 The Patriots came out with a confident energy that could not be matched. They called Routines 2 & 3 and executed them perfectly. DBU received 3 out of 4 possible points, only giving up one point is PS 8.

Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 6-2 The Longhorns called routine 6 to start the quarter and won the point. Despite this, the momentum of the game stayed with the Patriots, who won 3 out of 4 points in this quarter as well.

Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 8-4 After halftime, Texas tried their hardest to close the score gap. This quarter ended in a draw, with both teams scoring 2 points. "We didn't let adversity bring us down," said tumbler, Robbie Garcia #18. "We used it to our advantage as we fought harder and encouraged each other more."

Quarter 4 - Combination Routine Final Score: 15-10 In an incredibly intense final quarter, DBU tried their best to keep their lead against the Longhorns. The Patriots fought through small mistakes and kept going. This resilient attitude helped DBU finish the game strong and come out on top! This quarter proved that the Patriots were the stronger team and deserved this huge win. "Going into this game, we knew it was going to be physically hard, but we were mentally tough," said third-year senior Mariah Contreras. "I truly believe that our love for one another sets us apart, and that really showed in the game today. I couldn't be prouder of what we put on the floor today."
