THE RUNDOWN
The No. 3 DBU STUNT program defeated Drury, 20-1 to close out a 3-0 weekend at the Patrict Classic in the Burg Center. DBU has now won their first four contests to begin the season.Â
FINAL SCORE (DBU-20 and DU-1)Â
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 3-0 Starting the game off, DBU looked steady, but a bit tired. It was a slow quarter for the Patriots, but winning 3 out of 4 points set them up nicely for the second quarter.Â
Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 6-1 Before halftime, the Patriots fought through a few mistakes and put up three more points.Â
Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 10-1 This was the most confident quarter for the DBU STUNT team. Routines 1-4 were called, and the Patriots performed them to the best of their ability, receiving 4 out of 4 possible points.Â
Quarter 4 - Team Routine Final Score: 20-1 DBU finished the game extremely strong, winning 10 out of 12 possible points. The Patriots fought to make corrections that held them back from receiving points earlier in the game. This was the best quarter so far for the Patriots and helped them solidify this win against the DU Panthers. "We started today kind of slow," said Veteran
Katyn Yarborough. "We had a rocky warm-up that carried into the first half of the game. We were still winning points, but the champion mentally was not there. We flipped the switch at halftime and brought the energy we needed to finish strong."Â
UP NEXT
Next up DBU will be on the road to Shawnee, Oklahoma to play Maryville University, Alma University and Oklahoma Baptist University.
