No. 3 STUNT Knocks Off Maryville for Fifth Straight Win

THE RUNDOWN
The No. 3 DBU STUNT program was back in action this Saturday evening and defeated Maryville University, 19-12, to notch their fifth straight win to open the 2024 season.

Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 4-1 The Patriots came out with a confident energy that could not be matched. Maryville started with possession calling routine 4. DBU won the point for the routine and continued to execute each routine called. DBU received all possible points in the first Quarter only tying one point in routine 1 with Maryville.

Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 7-3 The Saints tried to regain the momentum in quarter 2 by calling routine 6. This was a smart call for Maryville, and they received the point for this routine and tied routine 3, later called by the Saints as well. However, the Patriots did not let up and continued to pull away, winning 3 out of 4 possible points. Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 8-6

Quarter 3 - Maryville closed the game, scoring 3 out of 4 possible points, with DBU receiving only one point in the quarter. After this, the Saints were only two points behind.

Quarter 4 - Team Routine Final Score: 19-12 In an incredibly intense final Quarter, DBU tried their best to pull ahead of the Saints again. The Patriots fought hard to make up for minor mistakes earlier in the game. This resilient attitude helped DBU finish the game strong and come out on top, winning 11 out of 12 possible points! This quarter proved that the Patriots were the stronger team and deserved the win. "This was an incredibly powerful game," said Sophomore Ashtyn Arp. "We chose to compete at a high caliber level with great confidence. We continued to accomplish our goals by encouraging each other, having a hype sideline, and loving each other well. I am so proud of the success we have had on the mat! "
