DBU ENTERS SPRING SEASON
The DBU Women's Tennis team opens their spring campaign this weekend in Arkadelphia, AR. The Lady Patriots will face Ouachita Baptist, Southern Arkansas, and Henderson State. Their last event in the fall was the ITA South Central Regional Championship in Arlington, Texas.
Sofia Teran and Isabella Arana Rios headlined the Lady Patriots' performance by becoming the first-ever doubles team from DBU to win the ITA's after defeating seeded opponents from Midwestern, Lubbock Christian, and UT-Tyler.
Sarah Castleberry and Leonie Schondelmaier defeated opponents from UTPB, Midwestern, and Angelo State to win the back draws. Double's pairing Jenna Payne/Madalyn Smelley, Caroline Hudson/Emily Buchanan, and Elise Carbo all picked up wins during the contest.
Schondelmaier advanced the furthest in singles play, making the round of 16 before falling in three sets, while Teran, Payne, Smelley, and Arana Rios won their first-round matches. Sarah Stewart, Sarah Castleberry, and Elise Carbo also picked up wins in the B draw.
