LAST TIME OUT

The DBU Men's Tennis team opened Friday's action with a big 9-0 win against McMurry and finished the day with a 5-4 victory over Hardin-Simmons. 

In a shutout victory over McMurry, the Patriots claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep. Ricardo Carvajalino and Fabian Rosales clinched the win at the line 1 position with an 8-3 victory, and the teams of Alec Rule and Arturo Langle (8-1) and Will Fiala and Trevor Vaccaro (8-1) followed, compiling wins at the line 2 and line 3 positions. In singles play, DBU won all six points, highlighted by Carvajalino's win at the line 1 spot. 

In the match against Hardin Simmons, every set was close and hard-fought, with DBU coming out on top. Fiala and Vaccaro (8-6) were the only win to come out of doubles play, while Langle (6-2, 2-6, 6-0), Rosales (6-2, 6-0), Rule (6-3, 6-1), and Edgar Mayorga (6-0, 7-5) each notched a win in singles play. 


PATRIOT STORYLINES

- The Patriots return to action on Monday in Florida. 
- DBU is a combined 49-16 in singles play and owns a 23-10 mark in doubles. 
- Alec Rule (10-0), Edgar Mayorga (9-0), and Arturo Beitman (4-0) are undefeated in singles play. 


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

DBU will face Rockhurst, Crown College, and Atlantis on Monday. Rockhurst competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 4-3 start this spring. The Hawks own the all-time series, 1-0, against the Patriots since their first matchup on March 10, 2020. Crown College competes at the NCAA level and is out to a 0-2 start this spring. Atlantis competes at the USCAA level and is out to a 1-1 start. 

The Patriots face Coe College on Tuesday as they are out to a 3-5 start this spring. The Kohawks compete at the NCAA Division III level. DBU will then face Augustana and Hope College on Wednesday. Augustana competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 1-5 start this spring. Hope College competes at the NCAA Division III level and is out to a 2-5 start this spring.
