LAST TIME OUT
The DBU Women's Tennis squad improved to 11-2 after matches in California on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Lady Patriots won both matches, defeating Fresno Pacific on Tuesday, 4-3, and Stanislaus State on Wednesday, 5-2.Â
Doubles were vital in both matches, mainly in the match against Fresno, as line three doubles secured the doubles point in their matches. Sofia Teran, Isabella Rios, and
Emily Buchanan went undefeated in singles play, ensuring the winning points in both matches. In Tuesday's win over the Sunbirds, the doubles team of
Caroline Hudson and
Madalyn Smelley rose to a 7-5 win at line 2, along with
Sarah Castleberry and
Jenna Payne, who notched a 6-1.
Wednesday, the Lady Patriots came with energy as the duo of Sofia Teran and Isabella Rios defeated the Warriors in line 1, 6-0 shutout.
Sarah Castleberry and
Jenna Payne joined the winners' circle at line 3 doubles in a 6-2 win. Leonie Shondelmaier recorded a 6-1, 6-3 singles win at line 2 position and was joined by Isabella Rios (6-3, 6-1) and
Sofia Teran (6-4, 6-2) along with
Emily Buchanan, who coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 win.Â
PATRIOT STORYLINES
- The Lady Patriots return to action when they face UTPB and WNMU to open Lone Star Conference Play this week.Â
- DBU sits at 11-2 in the spring season.Â
- At this point in the season, DBU is a combined 64-19 in singles play and owns a 33-5 mark in doubles.Â
- Madalyn Smelly owns a 12-3 record in singles play, along with Leonie Schondelmaier and Isabella Arana Rios, who are 10-2.Â

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
DBU will face UT Permian Basin on Thursday in Odessa, Texas. UT Permian Basin competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 6-8 start this spring. The Lady Patriots own the all-time series, 12-0, against the Falcons since their first matchup on March 1, 2012. The Lady Patriots face Western New Mexico on Saturday in Silver City, New Mexico. Western New Mexico also competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 1-10 start. The Lady Patriots own the all-time series, 6-0, against the Mustangs since their first matchup on February 10, 2006
