Women's Tennis Host CSU Pueblo on Tuesday

LAST TIME OUT
The DBU Women's Tennis team opened Lone Star Conference Play with wins over UTPB and Western New Mexico over the weekend. On Thursday, DBU collected a 6-1 victory over UTPB, followed by a 6-1 win against WNMU on Saturday. 

In the LSC opener Thursday against UTPB, the doubles team of Caroline Hudson and Madalyn Smelley defeated their UTPB opponents in a 6-0 shutout, while Jenna Payne and Sarah Castleberry also notched a 6-3 win. Singles play followed with the same energy as Leonie Schondelmaier (4-6,6-1,13-11), Madalyn Smelley (6-1,3-6,6-1), Isabella Arana Rios (7-6,6-4), Sofia Teran (6-3,5-7, 10-8), and Emily Buchanan (6-1,6-0) pulled through with a few tough wins. 

The Lady Patriots dominated the match against Western New Mexico, only dropping one game during the day. The Lady Patriots were undefeated in doubles play with the teams of Isabella Arana Rios and Sofia Teran (line 1), Madalyn Smelley and Caroline Hudson (line 2), and Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne (line 3). In singles play, Caroline Hudson notched a 6- 4, 6- 2 against her WNMU opponent at the line 1 spot. Madalyn Smelley (6-1,6-3), Isabella Arana Rios (6-0, 6-2), and Sofa Teran (6-1,6-1) joined Hudson after defeating their opponents.  

Madalyn Smelley went undefeated in singles and doubles play over the weekend, while the line 3 doubles team of Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne played a massive part in securing the doubles point in both matches. Emily Buchanan has been dominating all her matches at line 6 while providing that security low in the lineup. 



PATRIOT STORYLINES

- The Lady Patriots return to action when they face CSU Pueblo on Monday.
- DBU sits at 13-2 in the spring season. 
- Madalyn Smelley went undefeated in singles and doubles play over the weekend and owns a 14-3 record in singles play.
- Emily Buchanan has dominated all her matches at line 6 while providing that security low in the lineup. 
- Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne have been playing a massive part in securing the doubles points in matches at the line 3 position, as they are 8-0 this season. 


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

DBU will face CSU Pueblo on Monday at home in Dallas, Texas. CSU Pueblo competes at the NCAA Division II level in the RMAC and is out to a 0-6 start this spring. The Lady Patriots own the all-time series, 6-1, against the Thunderwolves since their first matchup on March 15, 2006.
