THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Track & Field Team came to race at the Victor Lopez Classic, notching two national provisional marks, five school records, and several personal bests.
Continuing her dominant progression in the 800m race,
Ellie Frye improved her school record once again, finishing second overall with a time of 2:08.51. Her mark is the third-fastest in Division II after the conclusion of the weekend competitions and is far and away the best time ran in the DBU red and blue. Frye inscribed her name in the DBU record book later as a member of the 4x400m relay team. The squad of Frye,
Kendal Brown,
Madyson Castellion, and
Cierra Wheeler clocked in at 3:52.48.
Wheeler also made her mark on the Rice track, submitting her name with DBU records in the 100m hurdles (14.69s), and the 4x100m relay (47.74s) with Brown, Castellion, and
Whitney Willeford. Castellion followed suit, claiming individual success in the open 400m, clocking in at 57.32s for another school record. The final DBU record was achieved on the field as
Amanda Chacon flung the javelin 31.68m.
Garnering the second national provisional mark of the weekend was Lesli Salas. She ran the 1500m in 4:30.00, the second-fastest time in DBU history, which currently slots in as the seventh-fastest mark in Division II and is, of course, a new personal best.
