LAST TIME OUT

On Tuesday, the DBU Women's Tennis team improved to 14-2 after picking up a non-conference win with a 7-0 victory over CSU Pueblo at home.

The Lady Patriots dominated in the match against the Thunderwolves not dropping a game during the day. Caroline Hudson cruised to a 6-1,6-1 win at the line 1 singles position. Madalyn Smelley (6-3,6-2) and Isabella Arana Rios (6-1,6-0) followed Hudson, each stacking a win in singles play. Emily Buchanan, Jenna Payne, and Sarah Stewart also won their matches in straight 6-0 sets. 

Doubles play saw the same winning energy as Caroline Hudson teamed up with Madalyn Smelley for a 6-0 win at line 1, while Jenna Payne and Sarah Castleberry won 6-2 at the line 2 position, and Sarah Stewart and Emily Buchanan went 6-1 at line 3.  


PATRIOT STORYLINES

- The Lady Patriots return to action when they face Our Lady of the Lake and St. Mary's this weekend. 
- DBU sits at 14-2 in the spring season. 
- Madalyn Smelley owns a 15-3 record in singles play.
- Emily Buchanan has been dominating in all of her matches at line 6 while providing that security low in the lineup (10-3). 
- Sarah Castleberry and Jenna Payne have been playing a massive part in securing the doubles points in matches at the line 3 position, as they are 9-0 this season. 


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
DBU will face Our Lady of the Lake on Friday. Our Lady of the Lake competes at the NAIA level and is out to a 10-6 start this spring. The Lady Patriots own the all-time series, 1-0, against the Saints since their first matchup on February 18, 2023. DBU will face St. Mary's on Saturday. St. Mary's competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 7-4 start this spring. The Rattlers own the all-time series, 19-5, against the Patriots since their first matchup on April 15, 2005.

The Lady Patriots will face UAFS and Cameron next weekend in Arlington, Texas.
