PATRIOT STORYLINES
- DBU enters the weekend with an 11-1 record on the season after winning the Frisco Classic with a 2-1 record last weekend and defeating Baylor in Waco on Tuesday. 
- In the Patriots 8-5 win over the Bears earlier this week, DBU secured their third midweek win of the season over a Big 12 opponent. Grant Jay and Tom Poole each homered, and Jerrod Jenkins worked 3.0 scoreless inning to record his first career save.
- DBU ace Ryan Johnson is coming off a career high 14 strikeout performance against Arizona last Friday. Johnson ranks eighth in DBU history with 197 strikeouts and is nine punchouts away from passing Cory Taylor (2013-15) for the sixth-most strikeouts in program history.
- The Patriots' 11-1 start is their best record through their first 12 games in DBU's Division I era.
- DBU's offensive is currently ranked in the top 25 nationally in five categories, including #6 in home runs (28) and home runs per game (2.33), #12 in slugging % (.598), #21 in hits (141), and #25 in batting average (.322).
- DBU has seven players hitting above .300 on the season led by Michael Dattalo (.429) and Grant Jay (.396).
- Grant Jay blasted his team-leading 7th home run of the season in Tuesday's win over Baylor. Jay's seven home runs are the third-highest home run total in the nation.
- Ethan Mann has reached base safely in his 30 consecutive games, a streak that dates to May 5, 2023.
- DBU boasts the nation's No. 9 fielding % (.987). The Patriots' infield of Grant Jay (C), Tom Poole (1B), Miguel Santos (2B), Luke Heefner (SS), and Chayton Krauss (3B) have committed just one error in 353 chances.
- On the mound, the Patriots rank 12th nationally per nine innings (12.0) and 20th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.09).

SCOUTING SAN DIEGO
- San Diego enters this weekend's series with a 6-5 record on the season. On Tuesday, he Toreros used a six-run eighth inning to take down the San Diego State Aztecs.
- Jack Gurevitch leads the Toreros with a .377 batting average and 21 total hits. On the power side of things, Jack Costello leads San Diego with three home runs and 18 RBI.
- San Diego ace Josh Randall comes into this weekend's series with a 1.17 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP on the season. In his last start against UC Irvine, Randall went 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits.
- Purdue transfer Calvin Schapira will make his first start on Saturday and has a 2.00 ERA in 9.0 innings of relief season. The Arizona native has struck out 14 batters and walked just two.
- The Toreros rank first in the West Coast Conference in both sacrifice bunts (7) and sacrifice flies (7).
- The San Diego pitching staff ranks 25th in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.90).

SERIES HISTORY

The Patriots hold a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Toreros. DBU won road series over San Diego in 2015 and 2022. This weekend marks the first time the two teams have met in Dallas.
