Lady Patriots Defeated UT Tyler in a 5-2 Victory on Tuesday

Box Score THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Tennis team claimed a 5-2 victory over the UT Tyler Patriots on Tuesday afternoon.

Today's match was a battle for the Lady Patriots, who were still fighting exhaustion from the marathon match against LCU on Saturday. Caroline Hudson and Madalyn Smelley (6-3) were the lone doubles win as UT Tyler jumped out and grabbed the doubles point, placing pressure on the Lady Patriots to respond in singles.  Sofia Teran (6-3,6-2), Emily Buchanan (7-6,6-0), and Madalyn Smelley (6-3,6-3) all scored points for DBU to put the team within 1 match. It ended up all coming down to Leonie Schondelmaier (6-3,3-6,6-4)  to close it out. Schondelmaier ended up winning the third set to clinch the match as Isabella Rios (6-3,6-2)  won the remaining match to make the final score 5-2 overall.

UT Tyler is the third opponent that DBU women have defeated this year, who beat us last season. This is the first match this year that the team has come back from losing the doubles point to win the match.
