Women's Tennis Drops Matches Against Texas A&M-Kingsville and No. 18 Angelo State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Tennis team concluded regular season play in two LSC matches, with a 3-4 loss against Texas A&M Kingsville and a 1-5 defeat at the hands of No. 18 Angelo State.

The Lady Patriots played two close matches yet again, though both matches were completely different dynamics. The match on Friday against Texas A&M Kingsville was a battle that came down to the very end. In the 5.5-hour tennis match, it was a knockdown dragged-out fight. During the match, we saw a standout performance yet again from our doubles as they swept the field. Isabella Rios and Sofia Teran defeated their opponent 6-2 at the line 1 position, along with the teams of Madalyn Smelley and Caroline Hudson at the line 2 position and Jenna Payne and Sarah Castleberry at the line 3 position, who also defeated their opponents 6-1. However, Kingsville came from behind during singles play to snatch the win.

Saturday's match against Angelo State was moved indoors to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth because of inclement weather. This match and singles play were extremely close, but ultimately, ASU prevailed in a tough 3-setter at the line 3 position to clinch the win. The Lady Patriots played super hard, and all the matches were close. Now, the team awaits seeding announcements to find out who their first-round opponent will be at the conference tournament next weekend.
