DBU STUNT defeated Ashland University, 14-12, at the Division II STUNT National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday.
FINAL SCORE (DBU- 14 and Ashland University- 12)
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 2-1 In their first game, the Patriots had a good start winning the first two routines. With a mistake in routine five, DBU did not receive the point. To finish the quarter, the Eagles won the point for routine one and kept the score close going into quarter two.
Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 5-3 DBU called routine 2 to start the quarter and won the point! In response, Ashland called routine 6, and the Patriots executed this routine without modifications for the first time. Both teams hit the routine and received a point for this round, a huge accomplishment for DBU! Despite this, the momentum continued to flip-flop between both teams. Going into halftime, the Patriots stayed in the lead, but not by much.
Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 6-6 After halftime, Ashland came out determined to close the score gap, and they did. Winning three out of four possible points, the game was at a tie going into the fourth and final quarter.
Quarter 4 - Combination Routine Final Score: 14-12 In a nail-biting final quarter, DBU fought to gain the lead back against Ashland. The Patriots corrected mistakes in the previous quarters and gained confidence. After each round, the game continued to be tied. DBU finished the game with routine three and won two out of three possible points. These two points helped the Patriots win the game and move on to the next game later tonight.

DBU will now move on and play the Bison from Oklahoma Baptist University at 8:00 p.m. CST.
