Men’s Tennis Is Back in Town to Face UAFS and Cameron

LAST TIME OUT
The DBU Men's Tennis team traveled to Central, Texas, for a three-match weekend against Schreiner, Our Lady of the Lake, and St. Mary's. The Patriots returned 1-2 on the weekend, with an 8-1 win over Schreiner and a pair of hard-fought losses to OLLU (1-6) and St. Mary's (0-7). 

In their win over Schreiner, DBU went 3-0 in doubles and 5-1 in singles competition. Trevor Vaccaro and Arturo Langle (8-7)  recorded the first win in doubles, with the teams of Fabian Rosales and Ricardo Carvajalino (8-2) and Alec Rule and Will Fiala (8-3) following suit. Arturo Beitman (6-1,6-0), Edgar Mayorga (6-4,6-3), Jacob Capone (6-0,6-0), Mariano Guzman (6-2,6-0), and Braxton Jett (6-0,6-0) all picked up singles wins of their own to secure the match win. During the two losses, the Patriots gained a point from doubles play with wins against OLLU before dropping singles play but weren't able to win a set against St. Mary's. 
  


PATRIOT STORYLINES

- The Patriots return to action this weekend when they face UAFS and Cameron. 
- DBU is a combined 81-49 in singles play and owns a 45-21 mark in doubles. 
- Alec Rule is 13-3 in singles play. Ricardo Carvajalino and Fabian Rosales are 12-5 in doubles. 


SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

DBU will face UAFS on Friday and Cameron on Saturday. UAFS competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 2-8 start this season. The Lions own the all-time series, 14-1, against the Patriots since their first matchup on March 18, 2010. Cameron competes at the NCAA Division II level and is out to a 4-7 start this spring. The Aggies own the all-time series, 17-0, against the Patriots since their first matchup on February 19, 2005. 


UP NEXT

The Patriots will travel to North Texas to face Midwestern State and Lubbock Christian.
