DBU Makes 10th Consecutive Trip to NCAA Tournament as No. 2 Seed at Tucson Regional

The DBU Baseball team will make their 10th consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason after being announced as the No. 2 seed at the Tucson Regional on Monday. The Patriots will play No. 3 seed West Virginia on Friday at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (CST) and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

The Patriots are one of only five teams in the nation to reach the NCAA Regionals each year, dating back to 2014, joining the likes of Florida, LSU, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt. DBU is also one of only 17 teams in college baseball to make 10 consecutive trips to the postseason since the NCAA expanded the field to 64 teams in 1999.

Arizona is the No. 1 seed in the Tucson Regional after winning the PAC-12 regular season and tournament titles. The Wildcats went 36-21 on the season and boasted the nation's No. 1 non-conference strength of schedule. Arizona is making its 43rd trip to the NCAA Tournament, dating back to 1950.

No. 2 seed DBU owns a 44-13 record and won the Conference USA Championship. The Patriots boast the No. 17 RPI in the nation, and their 44 wins are the third-highest in the country. Today's announcement marks the 13th trip to the NCAA postseason in program history since DBU joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 2004 and became eligible for the postseason in 2006.

West Virginia posted a 33-22 record and finished in fourth place in the Big 12 to punch their ticket to the postseason as the No. 3 seed. The Mountaineers boast the No. 37 RPI in the nation and are advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time in school history.

Grand Canyon is the No. 4 seed in the Tucson Regional. The Antelopes won the regular season title in the Western Athletic Conference and are making their third trip to the NCAA Tournament since joining the Division I ranks in 2014.
