THE RUNDOWNÂ
After battling in the top three for the final two rounds, No. 1Â DBU finished in second place at the Green Wave Classic hosted by Tulane University. The Division I event featured seven DI schools and DBU, with South Alabama taking first place honors. Individually, LSU's Jordan Fischer topped the field, finishing five-under for the tournament, and sophomore Ella Cheek led the Patriots in second place. Â
The final round tee'd off at 8 A.M. on Tuesday, with senior Jordan Karrh leading off hole one for DBU. Karrh posted a round of 71 (-1), kicking off her final season with an 11th-place finish. Cheek, who finished two-under on the day, carded a one-over front nine and combined for a 54-hole score of two-under. Following Cheek on the leaderboard was sophomore Madison Ude who shot a 75 in round three. Ude finished the tournament four-over to place 8th individually. Eryn Garza posted her best round of the tournament in the third round. Her 73 resulted in an 11th place finish, tying with Karrh. Brandee Fleming also posted her lowest tournament round on the last day, a three-over 75 to finish in 27th place. Â
South Alabama began the day in the lead and followed through, earning their first win of the season. Troy University finished seven strokes behind the Patriots in third place, and Tulane placed fourth.

"We played pretty well today, but again like yesterday, we didn't score well on the par 5's, so we have to be better going forward with that. I'm looking forward to getting back at it this week."

The Patriots have a quick turn-around before they host their second event of the season, the DBU Classic. The tournament will take place on September 15-17 at Robson Ranch Wildhorse Golf Club. The tournament includes three 18-hole rounds.Â
