DBU's Ella Cheek has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday. Cheek, a junior from Sachse, Texas, turned in a dominant performance at the Midwestern State Invitational, capturing individual medalist honors with an impressive 8-under 208. She opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 3-under 69 before closing out the victory with a steady 2-under 70 in the final round.

Cheek separated herself from the field with three eagles — the most by any player in the tournament — and added 11 birdies over 54 holes to lead the Patriots to their fourth consecutive victory of the fall season. The win marks the third individual title of her collegiate career.

This week's recognition is Cheek's second LSC Golfer of the Week honor this season and the third of her career.
