THE RUNDOWN
The No. 25 DBU Men's Golf team closed out their fall season in impressive fashion, earning their third consecutive top-three finish with a third-place showing at the DBU Classic on Tuesday at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club in Rockwall, Texas.
Battling steady 25-mile-per-hour winds and gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour, the Patriots displayed grit and resilience throughout the final round, firing a 1-under 287 to surge up the leaderboard. DBU entered the day 11 shots back of Southern Arkansas, but stormed back to finish at 2-over par (866) for the tournament—two strokes clear of the Muleriders.
No. 9 St. Mary's captured the team title at 9-under (855), finishing eight shots ahead of No. 3 Central Oklahoma.
Leading the charge for DBU was senior
Sam Jenkins, who carded back-to-back even-par rounds on Monday before delivering a clutch 3-under 69 in Tuesday's finale.
Daniel Ferguson joined Jenkins in the top 10, finishing tied for eighth at even par, while
Brecken Franklin also cracked the top 20 with a tie for 16th at 3-over.
