Caden Berg has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Â
A redshirt freshman from Prosper, Texas, Berg delivered a breakout performance for the Patriots, helping DBU earn a 3-0 win over St. Mary's and a 1-1 draw with St. Edward's to secure a spot in the LSC Tournament.
Â
Berg opened the week with a two-goal effort in the shutout victory at St. Mary's, including the game-winning strike to propel the Patriots past the Rattlers. He followed that up on Saturday with his third goal of the week, a crucial finish against St. Edward's that sealed an important point in conference play.
Â
This marks the first LSC Offensive Player of the Week honor of Berg's career and makes him the second Patriot this season to receive the league's top weekly recognition, joining teammate Erik Oliviera.
Â
Berg and the Patriots close out the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Laredo to take on Texas A&M International. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
