DBU's McKenna Vela was named the Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
 
A junior forward from Weatherford, Texas, Vela powered the top-ranked Patriots to a pair of victories over Sul Ross State and West Texas A&M last week, extending DBU's win streak to 16 consecutive matches.
 
Vela delivered a career performance in Wednesday's 9-0 win at Sul Ross State, recording her first collegiate hat trick with three goals in a span of just 10 minutes during the second half. She also added three assists in the match.
 
The honor marks the first LSC Offensive Player of the Week recognition of Vela's career.
 
Vela and the No. 1-ranked Patriots will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, hosting Midwestern State at Patriot Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
