THE RUNDOWN
On Saturday, the DBU STUNT team defeated Southern Nazarene, 21-0, to conclude a perfect 3-0 start to the season at the Burg Center.
FINAL SCORE (DBU- 21 and SNU- 0)
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 3-0 The Patriots played a majority of upper-level routines to challenge themselves. They started with partner stunt 6, but because of a few mistakes they did not receive the point. Despite not receiving the point, the sideline continued to be excited and proud of the work their teammates exuded on the mat.
Quarter 2—Pyramids and Tosses Score: 6-0 This was a very confident quarter for DBU. They continued to focus on the technical details of each routine, overcoming a few timing issues and mistakes. Despite this, the Patriots were determined to finish the first half on top.
Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 10-0 Coming back from Halftime, DBU came back incredibly motivated. They stole all four tumble points away from the Storm. One athlete stood out during this quarter, a third-year veteran, #19,
Robbie Garcia. "Robbie has pushed herself so hard this year to be at the highest level of competition," says Graduate Assistant
Katyn Yarborough. "You can tell she performs with great confidence and sticks all her tumble landings."
Quarter 4 - Team Routine Final Score: 21-0 The DBU Patriots finished this game incredibly strong, winning all 11 out of 12 possible points in the last quarter. A true freshman,
Rylin Childress, helped her team finish strong by encouraging them and keeping their energy high. Assistant Coach Mattie Royal said, "I have been so proud of Rylin this weekend and the way she has really taken ownership of this new sport. She's an excited teammate, and I am very excited to watch her continue to grow!
