Lacrosse Announces Schedule for Upcoming Season

The 2025 Lacrosse season has arrived, and DBU is set to open the season against two conference opponents this weekend. The Patriots will face Tarleton State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Texas State on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Patriot Field.

DBU returns 13 players, including all-time points leader Christian Beckett, starting goalie Gregory Williamson, and offensive specialist Zachary Conner, who ranks 9th all-time in goals for the Patriots. Alongside this talented group is former alumnus Zebulon Williams, who is entering his fourth season as head coach after finishing 2024 with a 6-4 record.

First up for the Patriots is Tarleton State, who finished 2-7 last season. The Texans struggled against DBU last year, losing 10-1 in their only meeting. However, Tarleton State is looking to turn things around this time. A scrappy team, they will rely on their athleticism to keep games low-scoring. Their defense will likely focus on players like Beckett and Conner, which could provide an opportunity for players like sophomore Jacob Ruiz to find favorable matchups.

After the home opener on Friday, DBU will welcome the Bobcats from Texas State to Dallas. Texas State finished 3-7 last season in Division I of the LSA. Now, after moving to Division II, the Bobcats are hoping to compete for an LSA conference championship. With the loss of their top two goal scorers and starting goalie, this young Texas State squad will be looking to find their identity early in the season. Meanwhile, players like Nathaniel Ebbeler and the Patriot defense will aim to build on last season's success, hoping to make a deep playoff run.
