STUNT Routs TWU in Season Opener

THE RUNDOWN
DBU STUNT kicked off their 2025 season at home on Friday with a 22-1 win over Texas Woman's University. The season opener marks the beginning of a two-day tournament at the Burg Center that features 11 teams from across the country.

FINAL SCORE (DBU- 22 and TWU- 1)
Quarter 1 - Partner Stunts Score: 4-0
For the first round of the game, DBU called routine 2. After hitting this routine, the sideline energy and excitement carried into the rest of the quarter. The Patriots shut out the Pioneers, winning all four possible points.

Quarter 2 - Pyramids and Tosses Score: 8-0
Starting quarter 2, DBU continued to perform with excellence. A first-year sophomore, Barb Waller, had a standout performance, helping the Patriots receive all 4 possible points.

Quarter 3 - Jumps and Tumbling Score: 12-1
The Pioneers are known for their clean and technical JT routines. However, DBU stole all four possible points in this quarter and continued to dominate. Morgan Black, a true freshman, shined in her relentless pursuit of excellence. "We've pushed Morgan really hard for her first year. She is in every tumble routine and handles them like a mature veteran," Assistant Coach Mattie Royal said.

Quarter 4 - Team Routine Final Score: 22-1
DBU finished the game strong, receiving 10 out of 12 possible points in the final quarter. This was a confident start to the season for the Patriots. "We have a big group of rookies, and it was exciting seeing them excel in their first game. What a way to kick off the season with a big win," said Head Coach Callie Taylor.
