PATRIOT STORYLINES
- CUSA Hitter of the Week: DBU's Keaton Grady was named the CUSA Hitter of the Week on Monday. The Patriots' redshirt junior hit a team-high .765 (13-17) last week.
- RPI Rising: DBU continues to bolster its postseason résumé, climbing to No. 25 in the latest RPI rankings released by D1Baseball.
- CUSA Title Hunt: The Patriots enter this week tied with #24 Western Kentucky for first place in the CUSA standings.
- Potent Offense: DBU ranks 9th nationally in home runs (77) and 7th in slugging percentage (.572). The Patriots are also averaging 9.3 runs per game, good for 11th-best in the nation.
- Home Run King: Junior catcher Grant Jay set the DBU career home run record with a three-homer game vs. UTA on April 1. His 58th career home run came on Saturday versus Sam Houston.
Golden Spikes Watch: Jay is also one of 45 players recently named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List.
- Elite Company: Senior center fielder Nathan Humphreys is in elite company as the first Patriot ever with 200 career hits, 30 home runs, 40 doubles, and 40 stolen bases.
- RBI Machine: Senior first baseman Chayton Krauss continues to drive in runs at a blistering pace. His 52 RBI lead C-USA and rank 20th nationally. Krauss is aiming to lead the team in RBI for the second consecutive season.
- Grady's Hot Streak: Since entering the lineup on March 8, Keaton Grady is scorching hot. Over his last 14 games, he's hitting .574 (31-for-54), including a career-best five-hit game at New Mexico State on March 29.
- Strikeout Staff: DBU's pitching staff ranks No. 18 in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (10.5).
- Defensive Excellence: The Patriots continue to flash the leather, ranking 14th in the country in fielding percentage (.980) - just shy of last year's program-record mark of .982.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE
- The Cowboys hold a 17-19 overall record two months into the 2025 season.Â
- OSU sits at 6-9 in Big 12 play following a 1-1 series split against the Houston Cougars (Saturday's game was canceled). The Cowboys lost 7-4 on Friday before defeating the Cougars 9-1 on Sunday in four and a half innings. The game was cut short due to Houston's travel curfew.
- Since Oklahoma State only had to pitch 14 innings last weekend due to the cancellations, their pitching staff is very well rested.Â
- The Cowboys' arms currently rock a team ERA of 4.77.Â
- LHP Drew Blake leads all Oklahoma State pitchers with 18 appearances. Blake has an ERA above seven but rocks a 12.50 K/9. In DBU's 11-inning win over the Cowboys earlier this year, Blake struck out five across two innings and allowed a two-run homer to Grant Jay.
- Sean Youngerman anchors the back end of the OSU bullpen. Youngerman leads the team with four saves and sports an 11.01 K/9. Youngerman should be available late on Tuesday, having only thrown nine pitches over the weekend against Houston. Youngerman was tasked with the ninth against DBU in March and allowed two runs in a blown save.
- While the OSU lineup only features one qualified hitter with an OPS over 1.000, they have two with clips over .900. Here are the leaders: Nolan Schubart (1.018), Brayden Smith (.934), and Colin Brueggemann (.932).
- The Cowboys have swatted 53 total home runs through 36 games. Schubart leads the group with nine big flies, followed closely by Brueggemann's eight.
- Oklahoma State isn't crazily active in the stolen base department, averaging just over one steal attempt per game. They pick their spots well, however, currently rocking a team-wide 78.9% success rate on steals. Brock Thompson leads the team with eight swipes on eight attempts.
ON DECK
The Patriots continue their four-game road trip against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (25-15, 10-4 CUSA). Last weekend, the Bulldogs took down the Liberty Flames two games to one to propel themselves to ten conference wins.
