No. 4 DBU has claimed their second consecutive Lone Star Conference Championship in thrilling fashion, tying St. Mary's 2.5 to 2.5 in the championship match, then winning in a one-hole playoff. It was Ella Cheek and Gracie Grant who birdied the playoff hole to solidify the Patriots fourth conference title in five years. Â
The day began with DBU's semifinal match versus No. 1 seed West Texas A&M, who had claimed the strokeplay portion of the tournament by 13-strokes just the day before. Sidney Robertson fell to Anna Nomrowski in match one, but the Patriots solidified the final four matches to win 4-1. Madison Ude won with the largest margin, earning a six-stroke lead over Charlee Thacker. Jordan Karrh finished four up on Kara Holm, Gracie Grant won by three, and Ella Cheek beat Sarah Reed by one. Â
The Patriots moved on to the final match, joining St, Mary's. STMU finished 3-2 over Midwestern State to earn their spot in the championship match for the second time in three years. In match one, Ella Cheek had control over her match with Savannah Dupre in the first nine but lost by one on the back nine. Madison Ude earned DBU their first point of the evening, posting a seven-stroke win over Orla O'Leary. STMU took match three when Sidney Robertson fell six strokes to Taylor Wilczek, making the score 2-1 in favor of STMU. Gracie Grant was one up on Libby Kilbride for the majority of the match, but they tied on 18, splitting the point to put DBU down one point going into the anchor match. Jordan Karrh was able to post a round of 70 (-2) to beat Sabree Lefebvre by eight strokes, causing the final medal matchplay score to rest at 2.5-2.5, provoking a sudden death playoff. Â
In the playoff, all 10 players played the first hole. Thanks to birdies by Cheek and Grant, the Patriots were able to finished two strokes better that STMU to win the 2025 conference championship. To view the final medal matchplay leaderboard, click here.

This is DBU's second straight conference championship. In 2024, they defeated Oklahoma Christian 4.5–0.5. Of that winning team, only Jordan Karrh and Ella Cheek returned for the 2025 medal matchplay.

At the West Regional in 2023, the Patriots also went into a sudden death playoff after tying with West Texas A&M in strokeplay. All five players of both teams played hole one, and DBU finished on top with a score of two-under. Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERSÂ
1 - DBU topped the field in par three, par four, and par five play. On the par three's and fives, the team finished under par. Â
2.75 - Madison Ude led the field in par three play, averaging 2.75 strokes per hole and finishing two under. She also carded the most birdies with 10. Â
8 - Jordan Karrh earned the largest win margin on the team in her match against STMU's Sabree Lefebvre. She finished the match eight up after posting a round of two under. Â
-16 – DBU played the par fives 16-under in todays 36-holes. Â
