Wade Morgan Named 2025 ITA Division II National Coach of the Year

Dallas Baptist University's Wade Morgan has been named the 2025 Wilson ITA Division II Women's National Coach of the Year, earning national recognition for the first time in his career. The honor follows a landmark season in which Morgan led the DBU Women's Tennis team to historic success on both the conference and national stages.

Under Morgan's leadership, the Lady Patriots completed their most successful season to date, finishing with a 23-4 overall record and earning the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Division II National Championships, the highest in program history. DBU's meteoric rise was highlighted by a series of program firsts, including their first Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship and their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16.

After entering the NCAA South Central Regional as the No. 3 seed, DBU clinched a dramatic 4-3 victory over No. 11-ranked St. Mary's, punching their ticket to the Sweet 16 and extending their postseason run deeper than ever before.

"This award is incredibly special," Morgan said. "I am beyond humbled for this honor. I can say one thing definitively—every bit of success our program has had this year has been an absolute team effort. I share this with my amazing coaches, Grant and Sofi, and all of my players who have played and won the matches. I am grateful to even be considered. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this year." This national award caps off a season in which Morgan was also named the ITA South Central Region Coach of the Year for the second year in a row, further cementing his status as one of the most impactful coaches in collegiate tennis.
