The Dallas Baptist Women's Tennis Team wrapped up a record-breaking 2024–2025 season with a hard-fought 4-1 loss to Wayne State in their first-ever NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. While the season ended earlier than hoped, the Lady Patriots' campaign will be remembered as a defining chapter in program history.

In the Sweet 16 matchup, the duo of Andrea Delgado and Isabella Quintero delivered a strong performance in doubles, securing a 6-3 win, the lone doubles victory for DBU. Despite their effort, the remaining pairs fell to Wayne State, giving the Warriors the doubles point. In singles play, Emily Buchanan continued her dominant form, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win and preserving her undefeated record to close out the season. Her victory marked DBU's only singles point of the match, as Wayne State clinched with four wins, leaving two singles matches unfinished.

Despite the loss, the Lady Patriots exit the tournament with their heads held high after a historic season marked by firsts. Under the guidance of Head Coach Wade Morgan, DBU posted a 23-4 overall record, earned the No. 6 national seed in the NCAA Division II National Championships, the highest in program history, and captured their first-ever Lone Star Conference Tournament title.

Their postseason journey was just as memorable. After entering the NCAA South Central Regional as the No. 3 seed, DBU stunned No. 11-ranked St. Mary's with a 4-3 victory, and  earning their first trip to the Sweet 16.

QUOTE FROM DBU HEAD COACH WADE MORGAN
"Thank you to everyone who has supported our program over the years, the support staff at DBU, the admin, and everyone who believed in us. We went out with our boots on and fought until the last point. Our players left it all on the court one final time, which is all we ever ask; we did our best to leave a legacy to be proud of for DBU Athletics. Thank you again."
