DBU Women’s Tennis Stuns #2/#3 Midwestern State to Advance to LSC Final

The DBU Women's Tennis team continued their postseason surge with a statement 4-2 victory over No. 2 seed and nationally ranked No. 3 Midwestern State, securing their spot in the Lone Star Conference Championship Final.

The Lady Patriots set the tone early by sweeping doubles play. Madalyn Smelley and Isabella Arana-Rios earned a hard-fought 6-4 win at line one, while Jenna Payne and Emily Buchanan clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at line two. In singles, DBU remained relentless. Madalyn Smelley battled through three sets to take a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win at line two, and Emily Buchanan extended her perfect season with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory at line five. Freshman Andrea Delgado delivered the clinching point at line six with a confident 6-2, 6-3 performance. While DBU dropped two singles matches, they maintained control throughout, with the remaining contests going unfinished once the team reached four points.

With the win, the Lady Patriots advance to the Lone Star Conference Final, showcasing their depth, resilience, and elite form as they chase the program's first LSC title.
