The DBU Men's Basketball team has been named as a recipient of the 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards, as announced by the National Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognizes programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher and is presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball.
The Patriots completed the 2024-25 academic year with a cumulative 3.34 GPA. Today's announcement marks the ninth time in program history that DBU has received top academic honors from the NABC since the awards' first year in 2013.
Seven Patriots also earned NABC Honors Court honors including
Wes Bongiorni,
Xavion Brown,
Isaac Bullard,
Drew Calderon,
Justin Haire,
Graham Kroll, and
Jaden Shelvin. The distinguished academic award recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
"I'm really proud of our team this year and the work they did in the classroom," DBU Head Basketball Coach Blake Flickner said. "Overall, it was an excellent year academically, and it is an honor for our team and these individuals to be recognized for all their hard work. This is an example of 'whatever you do, work heartily,' and both on and off the court, this group really did put in a lot of hard work."
