DBU Basketball Celebration Regional Trophy

Basketball Unveils 2025-26 Schedule Following Historic Run to National Semifinals

The DBU Men's Basketball team has announced its 2025–26 schedule, fresh off a program-defining season that saw the Patriots advance to their first-ever NCAA Elite Eight where they reached the National Semifinals. This year's slate will once again test the Patriots against some of the nation's best, featuring matchups with eight teams that earned NCAA Tournament berths last season.

Season Tips Off in Florida
DBU opens their campaign at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Florida. On November 1, the Patriots face a Michigan Tech squad that finished 24-8 and reached the NCAA Midwest Regional Second Round. The following day, DBU squares off with Washburn in a clash between two programs that both reached last year's National Semifinals.

Home Opener and Non-Conference Slate
Fans will get their first look at the Patriots in the Burg Center on November 14 when DBU hosts Colorado Mesa in the South Central Region Challenge, followed by Colorado Christian on November 15. The annual Homecoming Game is set for November 22 against St. Edward's, another NCAA Tournament qualifier. DBU wraps up its non-conference home schedule with back-to-back contests against Adams State (November 28) and Southern Arkansas (November 29).

Lone Star Conference Play Begins
The Patriots open Lone Star Conference action on the road December 4 at Texas A&M–Kingsville, before returning home for their conference opener December 11 against St. Mary's, a South Central Regional semifinalist a season ago.

Holiday Tournament in San Antonio
DBU heads to the River City Holiday Classic December 16–17 in San Antonio, taking on Rogers State in the opener and a Missouri–St. Louis squad that advanced to last year's Sweet 16 in the finale.

January and February Showdowns at the Burg
LSC play resumes January 2 at UT Permian Basin. The Patriots will host four January LSC home games - Sul Ross State (January 8), Western New Mexico (January 10), Midwestern State (January 22), and Lubbock Christian (January 24). February brings five more home dates: UT Tyler (February 5), Oklahoma Christian (February 12), Cameron (February 14), Texas A&M International (February 26), and Texas A&M–Kingsville in the regular-season finale on February 28.

Postseason Path
The LSC Tournament is scheduled for March 5–8 in Frisco, Texas. The top eight teams from the South Central Region will advance to the South Central Regional Tournament, hosted by the top seed, March 14–17, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (March 25-27). This year's NCAA Division II National Championship game will be played in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 5.

DBU HEAD BASKETBALL COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THIS YEAR'S SCHEDULE
"On paper, this might be the most challenging schedule DBU Basketball has ever had. Ten games are against teams that were in the NCAA tournament last year, and that doesn't even include a few other games against teams that were knocking on the door and are also excellent programs. Opening the season in Florida at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic is a huge honor and will be a stiff test against two excellent programs. Then we open in Dallas with the LSC/RMAC challenge, which has been a great event over the years, and it's our turn to host here in the Burg. For Homecoming this year, we have LSC rival St. Edwards coming to town for a non-conference game, then we're also hosting a pair of games over Thanksgiving weekend. Before Christmas, we have the exciting privilege to participate in the River City Holiday Classic in San Antonio, where we will face off against two great teams from the Central and Midwest Regions in Rogers State and Missouri-St. Louis. We can't wait to be back in front of the Patriot faithful as we look forward to an exciting season. This will be a huge test and make for a lot of exciting challenges this season."
