Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Patriots Ride Defense, Oliveira Goal to 1-0 Victory Over Harding

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Soccer team kept their hot start rolling on Thursday night, grinding out a 1-0 road victory over Harding in Searcy, Arkansas. A second-half strike from newcomer Erik Oliveira lifted the Patriots to their third straight win, continuing their best start to a season in four years.

The opening half was evenly matched, with DBU narrowly edging the Bisons in shots, 6-5, but neither side could break through as the teams went into halftime scoreless. Just five minutes after the restart, Oliveira—making his mark in just his fourth game as a Patriot—delivered the breakthrough. The forward ripped a right-footed shot that tucked inside the bottom-left corner of the net, recording his first goal in a DBU uniform.

From there, the Patriots' back line and goalkeeper Patrick Banich slammed the door, limiting Harding to just five attempts in the second half and preserving DBU's second clean sheet of the year.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • DBU is out to their best start through their first four matches since they were 3-1 in 2021.
  • The Patriots have now won three in a row, their longest streak since September 2021.
  • DBU has only conceded two goals through their first four matches.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4 - Goalkeeper Patrick Banich recorded the fourth career shutout of his DBU career.
50 - Midfielder Leo Larson notched his 50th career start, moving within one start of tying Ethan Unger for sixth all-time in program history.
270 - The Patriots have allowed just one goal across their last 270 minutes of play during their win streak.

DBU HEAD COACH JESS JOBE ON A BIG ROAD WIN
"The game went as we expected. We knew it was going to be a difficult atmosphere to play in. Harding did a really good job of presenting some challenges with their athleticism. We were really glad with the guys and the adjustments that we were able to make at halftime. We were able to get a goal early and thought we had some chances to get a brace, but regardless we got a good result at a tough place to win. I'm proud of the group and the hard grit that went into this one."
