THE RUNDOWN
In game two of an opening day doubleheader, the DBU Patriots (2-0) steamrolled the Binghamton Bearcats (0-2) 14-1, cementing the team's second run-rule victory in as many games this season. Patriot starter
Jared Schaeffer tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six.

The run column on the scoreboard read zeroes until the bottom of the second, where
Dylan Cupp and
Keaton Grady set the table for a
Jake Bennett three-run blast to center field. Bennett's first of the season was sent 427 feet away from home plate.

In the top of the fourth, Schaeffer would strand the bases loaded with a huge strikeout, which propelled DBU to a monstrous bottom half of the fourth.

The Patriots brought a whopping nine runs to the plate in the fourth on six different scoring plays:
Ben Tryon scored on a
Mac Rose fielder's choice,
Landon Underhill ripped an RBI double over the center fielder's head,
Dylan Cupp drove in Underhill with a double of his own,
Keaton Grady drove in two with a double, and
Jake Bennett capped the inning with a two-run inside the park home run to left field.

After a scoreless top of the fifth from Schaeffer,
Mac Rose and
Landon Underhill set the table for a
Dylan Cupp two-run double, making it a 14-0 ballgame after five innings.

Liam Watt would inherit the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, and would immediately induce a double play, before recording his first strikeout of the season to cement DBU's second win of the campaign.
