THE RUNDOWN
Sunday afternoon, DBU (4-3) dropped the series finale to UTSA (7-0) by a score of 6-3. The Patriots have been swept for the first time since March 2023, when DBU would go on to earn the No. 2 seed in the Stillwater Regional.

The Roadrunners continued their streak of scoring multiple runs in the first inning, scratching three across in the home half on a pair of one-out RBI singles.

Patriot starter
Ryan Borberg would settle down in the second, tossing a three-up, three-down frame, ending his day with a strikeout of Caden Miller.

Trailing 3-0 in the top of the third,
Cooper Neville worked a full-count lead-off walk and stole second base during the following at-bat. UTSA starter Kendall Dove would end up stranding Neville, retiring the next three Patriot hitters in order.

Borberg was lifted for
Jerrod Jenkins in the bottom of the third, who tossed a one-two-three inning, striking out two in the process.

Chayton Krauss led off the top of the fourth with a ten-pitch at-bat that resulted in a pull-side single. With two outs and Krauss on second,
Dylan Cupp recorded an infield single, putting runners on the corners. Dove would then escape another jam, getting
Adam Berghult to roll over in the next at-bat.

UTSA would add to its lead in the bottom of the fourth, as Jordan Ballin punched a two-out, RBI single down the right field line. At the end of the fourth, the Roadrunners led 4-0.

Cooper Neville led off the top of the fifth with a single, before stealing both second and third base. With one out,
Jake Bennett put DBU on the board with a double down the left field line, scoring Neville.

The Roadrunners would respond with another two-out RBI single, this time off the bat of Josh Arquette. UTSA held a 5-1 advantage after five.

Dove was replaced by Gunnar Brown in the sixth, and
Landon Underhill would greet him with a one-out single, before
Dylan Cupp singled to put runners on the corners. Underhill would come around to score on an
Adam Berghult fielder's choice, but Brown would get Neville on strikes to end the top of the sixth, limiting the damage to one run.

Ashton Branson started the bottom of the sixth and was removed after allowing two full-count walks to open the inning.
Avery Duncan came in and got the next three hitters out, but a run would come across on a groundout.

Scoring would halt until the top of the eighth, when
Ryan Martin led off the frame with a 400-foot home run over the left field fence.
Landon Underhill would follow up the homer with a single in the next at-bat, but Brown would retire the next three Patriots in order. After the top of the eighth, DBU trailed 6-3.

Aiden VanDeHatert struck out three in the bottom of the eighth, giving the Patriots a sense of momentum before entering the ninth trailing by three, with the top of the order due up.

Keaton Grady flew out to left to lead off the inning, before
Jake Bennett and
Ben Tryon drew back-to-back walks to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of
Chayton Krauss. After working a full count, Krauss would strike out, which brought
Ryan Martin to the plate, having already homered earlier. Martin launched a 1-0 offering into deep right field, but Lane Haworth would haul it in on the warning track, ending the series.
