THE RUNDOWN
Tuesday night, DBU (12-9, 2-1) took down Texas Tech (13-7, 2-1) by a score of 16-10 in an offensive showcase.
Ben Tryon launched two big flies and led everyone with eight total bases tonight. Trailing 6-0 at one point, the Patriots clawed all the way back in the bottom of the fourth inning and never relinquished the lead.

The Red Raiders brought three runs home in the top of the first after loading the bases for Caden Ferraro, who delivered a hard-hit single up the middle that got all the way to the wall, clearing the bases. Adam Hayes then tossed a scoreless bottom half to preserve Tech's 3-0 lead after one inning of play.

In the top of the second, Jesse Rusinek drew a full-count walk to set the table for a Robin Villeneuve two-run blast, which ended
Athan Kroll's day.
Liam Watt came in to finish the inning, but not before Connor Shouse lifted a solo home run to left-center, extending the Red Raiders' lead to six.

The Patriots began the long road back in the bottom of the second, and it started with a double-steal executed by
Chayton Krauss and
Cooper Neville. This allowed
Adam Berghult to drive in Krauss with a grounder to third. After two, DBU trailed 6-1.

Liam Watt tossed a three-up, three-down inning in the third, before
Ben Tryon launched his first big fly of the night over the right field fence, shrinking the deficit to four after three frames.

Texas Tech answered in the top of the fourth with an RBI single off the bat of Connor Shouse, making the score 7-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

The Patriots brought a whopping seven runs to the plate in the bottom of the inning, started by
Cooper Neville,
Dylan Schlaegel, and Adam Beghult loading the bases for the top of the order. All with two outs,
Jake Bennett was hit by a pitch,
Ben Tryon and
Luke Pettitte drew back-to-back walks, and
Chayton Krauss and
Cooper Neville exchanged two-run singles to put a cap on the scoring. DBU led 9-7 after four innings of play.

Both teams would exchange one-run half innings for the next two frames, highlighted by a
Luke Pettitte RBI single and a
Ryan Martin solo home run. After six innings of play, DBU led 11-9.

Armani Knipper and
Aiden VanDeHatert combined to toss a scoreless seventh before the Patriots added on three more insurance runs in the form of a
Chayton Krauss two-run blast, and a
Dylan Schlaegel RBI single up the middle.

Tech's Connor Shouse led off the eighth with a solo home run, but that would be the last of the damage done by the Red Raider offense.

After
Jake Bennett was plunked for the second time to lead off the bottom of the eighth,
Ben Tryon launched his second home run of the night to make the score 16-10, where the score would remain as
Avery Duncan tossed a scoreless ninth inning to seal DBU's 12th victory of the season.
