DBU's
Aiden VanDeHatert was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round with the 604th overall selection of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft on Sunday.
Â
After transferring to DBU for his redshirt sophomore season, VanDeHatert emerged as one of the most unique relief arms for the Patriots. With an east-west attack from his left-handed slot, the Fairfield, Ohio, native made 17 appearances with four starts, posting a 2-3 record with a 6.10 ERA while striking out 35 batters in 31.0 innings. He averaged 10.12 strikeouts per nine innings, establishing himself as one of DBU's top southpaw options out of the bullpen.
Â
VanDeHatert becomes the 85th player drafted during
Dan Heefner's 19-year tenure as head coach and the 150th Patriot in program history to be selected in the MLB Draft. He is also the fourth player from DBU taken in the 2026 draft, including

Luke Pettitte, and
