DBU Releases 2026-2027 Basketball Schedule

| By:
DBU Men's Basketball unveiled its 2026-27 schedule on Wednesday, featuring 12 home games and a challenging slate that spans November through March. Coming off a run to the NCAA Sweet 16 last season, the Patriots will face a demanding test throughout the 2026-27 campaign, with eight opponents coming off NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Patriots tip off the season on the road at the South Central Region Challenge on November 13-14. Their season opener is a duel with Colorado Christian on Friday, November 13, followed by a tangle with Colorado Mesa, whom DBU defeated in last season's South Central Regional Quarterfinal, the next day.

The Patriots continue non-conference play through the rest of November, including a road showdown with NCAA Tournament qualifier Harding on November 19. DBU then makes its home debut with a matchup against Henderson State for the annual homecoming game on November 21.

December brings the start of the long Lone Star Conference schedule, beginning with home contests against Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville on December 3 and 5, respectively. After an LSC meeting at St. Mary's on December 9, the Patriots conclude non-conference competition at the Lynn Winter Classic on December 18-19 in Boca Raton, Florida.

On New Year's Day versus Angelo State, DBU commences a 17-game LSC stretch. Alternating home and away weeks, the Patriots battle their first NCAA Tournament qualifier from the league on the road at Western New Mexico on January 7. When they return to the Burg Center on January 14, they face three consecutive teams who earned berths in the national bracket, with home contests against St. Edward's on January 14 and St. Mary's on January 16 and a trip to Lubbock Christian on January 21. DBU's final game against an NCAA postseason team from 2025-2026 is scheduled for January 30 against Eastern New Mexico on University Hill.

The Patriots complete the regular season with five away games in their last seven contests. Senior Day is slated for the home finale on Feburary 18 versus UT Dallas. From there, DBU readies for the LSC Tournament in Frisco on March 5-7 and the NCAA Tournament beginning with the South Central Regional on March 13-16.

In his 21st season as head coach, Dr. Blake Flickner is eager to begin the trek for the program's 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. "Once again, we are super excited about a challenging schedule and opportunity to test ourselves both in and out of conference play. We have trips this year in the non-conference to Colorado and Florida, which will be great experiences, and play eight games against teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last year. As always, Lone Star Conference play will be tough, but we are excited about the challenges and opportunities in front of us. Can't wait to kick things off in the South Central Region Challenge in November."
