Alex Pendergast is in his first season on the DBU Baseball coaching staff and serves as the team's Director of Hitting Development after playing for the Patriots the past two seasons. During those two years, Pendergast played primarily in the corner outfield and was part of two 45-win teams that both reached the NCAA Regionals. He was also part of a DBU team that won the Conference USA regular season title in 2023 and clinched the Conference USA Tournament Championship in 2024, where he was named the Most Valuable Player after hitting .562 in the CUSA Tournament.
Before coming to DBU, Pendergast played two seasons at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During those two years, Kirkwood won its regular-season conference title, conference tournament title, and district title, which led to Kirkwood reaching the NJCAA Division II World Series in back-to-back seasons.
Pendergast grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, where he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Sports Management at Dallas Baptist University.
