Craig Parry enters his fourth season at Dallas Baptist University and has been a key part of a Patriots’ coaching staff that has led DBU to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three years. Parry continues his work with the Patriots’ catchers, assists Rick McCarty with the pitching staff, and serves as the team’s first base coach.Â

In Parry’s third year to work with the team’s catchers in 2016, sophomore Matt Duce earned Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors and was also named to the MVC All-Defensive Team. In 2015, Parry helped to develop standout catcher Daniel Salters, who ranked among the nation’s elite catchers, throwing out 23-of-49 would-be base stealers. Following the 2015 season, Salters was selected in the 13th round of the Major League Draft by the Cleveland Indians. In Parry’s first year at DBU in 2014, the Patriots also saw a pair of catchers draw attention from Major League teams, as Salters was a 22nd round pick of the Washington Nationals and KJ Alexander signed as a free agent with the New York Yankees.Â

Parry came to DBU following a one year stint with Sacramento State University. In his lone season with the Hornets, Parry worked with outfielders as well as assisted with the hitters and catchers. He also served as the team’s first base coach.
Prior to Sacramento State, Parry spent two seasons coaching at Miles Community College in Miles City, Montana.  In each of his two years, the Pioneers fell just short of a NJCAA Division II World Series berth after falling to Dan Fitzgerald’s Des Moines Area Community College in Districts.  During Parry’s stint at MCC, he coached the hitters, outfielders, and catchers, helping them achieve a combined record of 65-36-2 during the two years.
A native of Colstrip, Montana, Parry began his collegiate playing career at Miles Community College (Miles City, Montana), where he played third base and was a two-time All-Conference selection and All-Region honoree as a sophomore. He then transferred to South Dakota State University, where he combined to hit .334 over two seasons with 17 home runs, 79 RBIs, 34 doubles, and eight triples while playing third base, left field, and catcher for the Jackrabbits. He was named to the All-Summit League First Team, as well as being named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Baseball 2nd Team.
Following his career as a Jackrabbit, Parry was taken in the 50th round of the 2008 MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and played two seasons as a catcher and outfielder in their minor league system.
Parry earned a Bachelor’s degree from SDSU in 2010 before earning a Master’s in Sports Management from American Public University in 2012.
