Sam Mrstik returns to DBU in 2018 to serve as the Director of Baseball Operations after playing for Dan Heefner in 2015-2016. The Iowa City, Iowa, native brings an extensive baseball resume to the position and will oversee all aspects of team travel while helping assist with player nutrition and development.

Mrstik began his collegiate experience at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, where he helped the program win 99 games in his two seasons while advancing to the JUCO World Series in 2014. Mrstik was named a Jayhawk Conference All-Star that season and transferred to DBU the following year.

In 2016, Mrstik helped the DBU Patriots advance to the championship game of the NCAA Lubbock Regional and served as a leader in The Oaks discipleship program. He then spent his final two seasons as a player at Southern Arkansas University, helping the Muleriders to two regional appearances and a 2017 regular season conference championship.
