2018 (JUNIOR)
Made 14 appearances, including six starts … Posted a 1-1 record with one save and a 5.85 ERA … Struck out 26 batters and walked just 12 in 32.1 innings … Tossed 5.0 innings and allowed just one unearned run in his first start of the year against Monmouth (2/17) … After returning from an injury in mid-April, came out of the bullpen to throw 2.0 scoreless frames and earn the save against Southern Illinois (4/15) … Started at TCU (5/2) and worked 3.0 shutout innings while striking out three … Helped lift DBU to a win at then-ranked No. 9 Texas Tech after holding the Red Raiders scoreless for 2.1 innings out of the pen … Allowed just one run over 7.0 innings in his start against Bradley (5/26) to earn Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team honors.

Led the pitching staff in starts (17) and posted a 9-4 record with a 4.78 ERA … Finished the season with the most wins (9) in the Missouri Valley Conference … Ranked tops on the DBU pitching staff and eighth in the MVC in both innings pitched (81.0) and strikeouts (76) … Held opponents to a .252 batting average, which ranked seventh best in The Valley … Was the team’s Opening Day starter versus Louisiana Monroe (2/17) and surrendered three runs in 4.0 innings while striking out four … Earned his first win of the year against New Mexico (2/24) after allowing just one run in 5.0 innings and registering seven strikeouts … Blanked then-ranked No. 1 TCU (3/7) in 3.0 innings of work and struck out six … Notched his second win at Oral Roberts (3/13) after striking out five over 5.0 innings and allowing four runs … Held Grambling State (3/19) scoreless for 5.2 innings to earn the victory … Helped ignite DBU’s strong finish over the last two months by shutting out Central Arkansas (4/14) for 7.0 innings and striking out a career-high 11 batters … Held Southern Illinois (4/29) to just two runs over 7.0 innings to pick up the win … Registered a win over Wichita State (5/6) after striking out seven and giving up a pair of runs in 5.0 innings of work … Held Bradley to just one run in 6.0 innings to earn the victory … Worked 5.0 innings at Evansville (5/19) to pick up his fifth straight win …  Capped off a stretch in which he went 6-0 from April 14 - May 25 after earning the win over Indiana State in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament (5/25), allowing just two runs over 6.1 innings and striking out six.

Three-year letterman at Birdville High School … Played for head coach Vance Bonner … Earned Class 5A Third Team All-State honors as a designated hitter and was named the District MVP as a senior … Garnered Class 4A Second Team All-State honors as a pitcher and was recognized as the District’s Pitcher of the Year in 2014 … Tabbed as an All-District selection on the mound as a sophomore … Also a standout in football as a wide receiver and earned Academic All-State honors … Competed in the summers for the Fort Worth Cats.

Born on March 7, 1997 … Parents are Robert and LaDonna Martinson … His older brother, Jason Martinson, played baseball at Texas State, was a fifth round draft pick of the Washington Nationals in 2010, and has played eight seasons of professional baseball … Majoring in Business Management … Favorite Bible verse is Romans 10:9.
