Cory Carden enters his first season as the Student Assistant Coach for Dallas Baptist after playing two seasons with the Patriots. Over the course of two seasons at DBU, Carden played in all 54 games for the Patriots, making 36 starts. During the 2013-2014 season, Carden led the Heartland Conference with a .474 field goal percentage from three-point range.
Born in Dalton, Georgia, and raised there for ten years before moving to Clearwater, Florida, Carden went on to star on the basketball court, playing for his father, Allen, at Pinellas Park High School and Clearwater High School. Over the course of four varsity seasons, Carden was a standout performer for teams that reached the Elite 8 and State Championship.
Carden’s parents are Tammy and Allen Carden and he has three siblings; Cam (25) Cody (19) and Colby (15). All three have, or are still playing basketball at the high school and or college level.
Carden recently married his wife, Emily, who is also a DBU student studying Elementary Education. Cory and Emily both attend First Baptist Red Oak where Emily is the Youth Worship Leader and Cory is a Youth Staff Leader.
Carden will graduate from DBU in the spring of 2015 with his degree in Kinesiology.
