Gil Williams is entering his first season as a graduate assistant for the Dallas Baptist University basketball program.
Prior to his arrival DBU, Williams spent two years at LeTourneau University, as a student assistant under head coach Dan Miller. During his two years with the YellowJackets, LeTourneau compiled a record of 34-20 and made two appearances at the American Southwest Conference Tournament. In Williams' final year, the YellowJackets set multiple school records, including: most wins in a season (22), longest winning streak (12), first regular season conference championship, first postseason win, and first appearance in the conference tournament championship game.
Prior to LeTourneau, Williams spent a year at DI Sunbelt conference member, University of Louisiana Monroe. Under head coach Kieth Richard, the Warhawks posted their first 20 win season since 2002 and made it to the finals of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) tournament, which was their first postseason appearance since 1996.
The Pullman, Washington, native began his collegiate career at Western Texas College where he played under head coach Laren Silver. In his red-shirt sophomore season at WTC, the Westerners compiled a record of 23-7 and claimed a berth at the NJCAA Region V tournament. While at WTC, Williams played two years under current DBU assistant coach Ryan Glenney.
Williams earned his AA in Communications from WTC in 2014, and his BA in Interdisciplinary Studies from LeTourneau University in 2017. Williams is currently pursuing his Master's of Arts in Leadership at Dallas Baptist University. Gil is the son of Walt and Carol Williams, and the fourth of nine children.
