Parris Massey is entering his first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the DBU Men’s Basketball program. Massey joins the program after serving as a Sergeant for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Boston, Massachusetts, for six years. Before this, Massey worked as a Social Worker, first in Nampa, Idaho, for a year and later in Boston for four years.
Massey graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2014, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and writing while playing basketball for head coach Greg Herenda from the 2011-12 season to the 2012-13 season before playing for head coach Pat Duquette for the 2013-14 season. Massey prided himself on his impact on defense during his playing career, leading the UMass-Lowell Riverhawks in blocks for two of his three seasons at the University and being one of the top shot blockers in the America East Conference during the 2013-14 season. Before his time at UMass-Lowell, Massey was a member of Sacred Heart University's basketball team, where he had been red-shirted due to an injury.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Massey was a standout three-sport athlete in high school, participating in basketball, football, and track and field, all under coach Barry Robinson at The Boston English High School. Massey also played AAU basketball for head coach Pete Washington in the YABC basketball system.
Massey is pursuing a Master’s in Sports Management at Dallas Baptist University.
