Ryan Glenney is in his 10th season with the DBU Men’s Basketball program and serves as the team’s Associate Head Coach. Over his nine seasons with the Patriots, Glenney has helped guide DBU to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including a historic run to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals in 2025 — the first in school history. That same year, DBU captured the Lone Star Conference regular-season and tournament titles, as well as the South Central Regional Championship.

During Glenney’s tenure, the Patriots have claimed three Lone Star Conference division titles, two Heartland Conference regular-season crowns, and two conference tournament championships (Lone Star Conference in 2025, Heartland Conference in 2018). Under his leadership, DBU has compiled an impressive 141–80 record over the past nine seasons.

In recognition of his coaching excellence, Glenney was named the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019. A proven recruiter and developer of talent, Glenney has coached 27 All-Conference performers, including two All-Americans — Chandler Jacobs and Cameron Kahn. His players have also earned three Conference Freshman of the Year honors, three Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year awards, and three LSC Sixth Man of the Year selections.

Now in his 16th year of coaching at the collegiate level, Glenney brings extensive experience in recruiting, player development, and academic oversight at both the NCAA and NJCAA Division I levels. Before returning to DBU, he served as the top assistant coach at North Platte Community College (Nebraska), working under Coach Kevin O’Connor, where he was instrumental in player development, scouting, academic supervision, and camps. His earlier coaching stops include Jacksonville College under Coach Jody Bailey and Western Texas College as the team’s recruiting coordinator for Coach Larren Silver.

Glenney began his coaching career at Iowa State University, serving as a student assistant under current Creighton University Head Coach Greg McDermott. After graduating, he joined the DBU staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach, contributing to recruiting, academics, and the Patriots’ 2011 NCCAA National Championship team.

As DBU’s recruiting coordinator, Glenney oversees recruiting operations, scheduling, academic monitoring, on-court coaching, and opponent scouting. He has recruited and developed players from across the United States and internationally, helping sustain DBU’s reputation as one of the premier programs in Division II basketball.

A native of Iowa, Glenney holds a B.A. in Community Sport and Recreation from Iowa State University (2009) and an M.A. in Kinesiology from Dallas Baptist University (2011). He and his wife, Amanda, a fellow DBU alumna, have been married for 13 years and are the proud parents of their daughter, Harper, and son, Isaiah.
