Jess Jobe is in his fourth season as the head coach for the DBU Men's Soccer team. In his previous three seasons at the helm, Jobe has guided the Patriots to the Lone Star Conference Tournament in each of the last two years, including a trip to the LSC Championship match in 2023. He has also produced 17 All-Lone Star Conference selections during his three seasons at the helm.

Jobe, who spent three years as the co-head coach for the women’s soccer team at Northwestern State University, an NCAA Division I program in Natchitoches, Louisiana, returned to DBU in 2021. Prior to his time at Northwestern State, Jobe served as an assistant coach for the DBU Women’s Soccer team from 2011-2017, including a two-year stint as the program’s associate head coach.

In 2023, Jobe guided the Patriots to a third-place finish in the LSC regular season standings. In the program’s first-ever home match in the LSC Tournament, the Patriots advanced to the semifinal round after clinching a 4-3 decision in penalty kicks over Texas A&M International. DBU eventually punched their ticket to the LSC Championship with another thrilling match determined by penalty kicks, as the Patriots knocked off West Texas A&M, 5-4 on PKs.

Following the 2023 season, Peyton Voelker was named a D2CCA First Team All-South Central Region selection after becoming DBU’s all-time leading goal scorer. The Patriots also placed five players on the All-LSC Team, including Voelker (First Team), Ethan Unger (Second Team), Andrew Hollenbach (Third Team), Ethan Michael (All-Freshman Team), and Evan Pustejovsky (All-Freshman Team). Unger was also tabbed the LSC Academic Player of the Year.

Jobe led the DBU Men’s Soccer team to new heights in 2022 when the Patriots finished second in the LSC regular season standings and reached the semifinals of the LSC Tournament. DBU finished the year with a 7-6-5 record, marking the program’s first winning record in school history. At season’s end, Peyton Voelker and Ethan Unger were named to the D2CCA All-Region Team and also garnered Academic All-American honors. The Patriots also placed four players on the All-Lone Star Conference Team, and four freshmen were named to the league’s All-Freshman Team.

In his first year at the helm in 2021, Jobe guided DBU to a five-win season, the most wins for the Patriots in a season since 2017. Among the highlights for DBU in 2021 included a 2-1 overtime victory over St. Mary’s in San Antonio and a near upset of No. 15 West Texas A&M in an overtime thriller. At season’s end, the Patriots fell one win shy of reaching the LSC Tournament for the first time in program history.

Following the 2021 season, Payton Franklin was named the LSC Academic Player of the Year. Four Patriots were also named to All-LSC, including Franklin and Emmanuel Loni, who were each tabbed to the Second Team, while Ethan Unger garnered Third Team honors, and Peyton Voelker was named to the LSC All-Freshman Team.

During his three seasons at Northwestern State, Jobe compiled a 32-21-3 record and guided the Lady Demons’ program to heights it had not reached since 2005. In 2019, Jobe led NSU to a 13-win season, its most wins since 2005, and reached the championship of the Southland Conference Tournament.

NSU finished second in the regular-season standings in the SLC in 2019, going 8-2-1 in conference, and defeated champion Lamar University, handing the Cardinals their only conference setback. The Lady Demons knocked off Sam Houston State and McNeese on their way to advancing to the SLC Championship for the first time since 2005.

NSU finished with the second-most wins (8) and second-most points (25) in conference play in program history. For their efforts, he and co-head coach Anna Jobe were named Co-All Louisiana Coaches of the Year.

Jobe's squad had five players named to the All-Southland Conference teams in 2019, led by Southland Conference Defender of the Year Nicole Henry. The defense was the calling card in 2019, allowing just 1.27 goals and 8.5 shots per game. The Lady Demons surrendered one goal or fewer 17 times in 22 matches and registered eight shutouts, the most in a season for NSU since 2009.

In his first season in Natchitoches in 2018, Jobe’s squad won 10 matches and reached the SLC Tournament.  Before the 2018 season, NSU had only made one appearance in the SLC Tournament.

In 2018, Jobe tutored All-Southland Conference selection April Trowbridge (league-best 13 goals, tied for 13th in the nation at the end of the regular season) as she led an offense that finished 30th in the nation with 2.10 goals per game.

Before NSU, Jobe spent the previous seven seasons on the DBU Women's Soccer staff, the last two as associate head coach after three seasons as the top assistant and two as a graduate assistant. During his time at DBU, the Patriots were a top 25 program in each of those seven seasons, qualifying for six NCAA Division II Tournaments with a 108-35-11 mark in that span. DBU won the Heartland Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2017, advancing to the Division II NCAA Tournament and finishing with a 15-4-2 record.

The Patriots twice appeared in the South Central Regional Championship (Sweet 16), winning the title and advancing to the National Quarterfinals in 2015. Jess helped guide the Patriots to four conference regular season titles (2011, 2012, 2015, 2017) and four league tournament titles (2011, 2015, 2016, 2017).

Five Patriots achieved All-American status with 12 regional selections and 55 all-conference picks in Jobe’s seven seasons at DBU.

Jobe also has one season of NCAA Division I experience as the University of North Texas goalkeeper coach in 2010. The Mean Green allowed just 17 goals in 21 matches, posting a 0.78 goals against average and nine shutouts. UNT went 12-7-1 and 7-3-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Jess has been involved with the North Texas State Olympic Development Program (2010-14), the U.S. Soccer Olympic Development Program (2012-15), and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (2016 to present). His coaching licenses include an Advanced National Goalkeeper Diploma (2015), an Advanced National Coaching Diploma (2014), and a USSF Level ‘D’ Coaching License (2009).

Jobe started his playing career at Georgia Southern as a goalkeeper before transferring to NCAA Division III member Fontbonne University. While at Fontbonne, Jess was a three-time, all-conference performer -- twice as a goalkeeper and once as a midfielder. After finishing his playing career at Fontbonne, he served as a student assistant coach and recruiter in 2009.

Jess completed his master of education in kinesiology from Dallas Baptist University (2014) and his bachelor of science in sports management at Fontbonne (2009).
