Paul Hason

Paul Hason is in his first year as an Assistant Coach for the DBU Men's Soccer team. Before joining the Patriot staff, Hason served as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Southwestern Assemblies of God University from 2016-2024. 

During his time at SAGU, Hason guided his teams to two National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Final Four appearances in 2017 & 2024, with a finalist outcome in the 2024 National Championship. Following the 2024 season, Hason was named the SAC Coach of the Year and the NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year. 

During his tenure, the women's program set new records on the field in statistical soccer categories and off the field with overall team GPA achievements. Hason's players achieved notable awards, including numerous Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC), NCCAA, and NAIA Defensive & Offensive Player of Week awards, SAC Freshmen of Year, SAC Goalkeeper of the Year, NSCAA Player of the Year, two NAIA First Team All-Americans, and one NCCAA First Team All-American.

Hason’s heart for missions inspired him to organize mission trips with his SAGU teams to travel to Egypt twice, as well as Japan, Guatemala, and Montana. Hason also created a Team Outreach Program, which positively impacted the local community.

From 2007-2012, Hason was an assistant men’s coach at Southern Methodist University, where he helped the Mustangs reach three NCAA tournaments.  In 2010, SMU was ranked as high no. 5 in the nation and in 2011, they were the No. 6 overall seed in the NCAA tournament.  In 2010, the Mustangs reached the NCAA quarterfinals before falling to the University of North Carolina in penalty kicks.  While at SMU, Hason had 12 players drafted to the MLS.  From 2002-2005, Hason served as an assistant women’s coach at Texas Woman’s University.

Hason is proud to continue his family's soccer tradition. Following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps, Hason has become the third generation to reach the professional level as a player and coach. Hason is highly familiar with soccer in the DFW area, as it is a family tradition. His father was one of the pioneers of soccer in North Texas and was the Head Men's Coach at Dallas Baptist University and the University of Dallas.

Paul is also the owner of Dallas Goalkeeper Academy, which has a notable tradition of excellence. For over half a century, it has developed the nation's top youth, collegiate, national team, and professional goalkeepers.

Hason graduated with a degree in Christian Ministries from Mid-America Christian University. He holds multiple coaching credentials such as US Soccer “A” License, US Soccer National Goalkeeping License, US Soccer National Youth License, US Soccer Fitness Level 1 License, United Soccer Coaches (USC) Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, USC Player Development Diploma, USC National Youth Diploma, USC Director of Coaching Diploma, University of Delaware & USC Advanced Director of Coaching Certificate, and US Soccer International Coaching Continuing Education Workshops in Italy & Portugal.

Hason is married to Timmons, and they have a twelve-year-old son named Christian.
