Tyler Knox is entering his tenth year with Patriot Athletics and currently serves as the Associate Director of Athletics and NCAA Compliance Officer for Dallas Baptist University.

During his time at DBU, Knox has seen tremendous growth both academically and athletically throughout Patriot Athletics. DBU Athletics have won 19 Heartland Conference championships, four Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championships, six NCAA Division I Baseball regional Appearances, nine NCAA Division II National Championship appearances, one NCAA Division II women’s soccer Final 8 appearance, and 15 NCCAA National Championships. In addition, the Patriots have won their second consecutive Heartland Conference Commissioner’s Cup, finishing the 2016-2017 seasons as the best overall athletic department in the Heartland Conference.  

He has assisted each of the department’s 20 teams at the Division I, Division II, and Club sport levels as he provides oversight for all compliance within Patriot Athletics. While serving in DBU Athletics, Knox has instituted numerous compliance policies and procedures to uphold overall institutional compliance. His leadership has provided a smooth transition into the NCAA ranks within NCAA Division I Missouri Valley Conference and NCAA Division II Heartland Conference. Knox has been instrumental in hosting the Patriots’ first-ever NCAA Division I Baseball Regional Tournament in 2015 at Dallas Baptist University, when Patriot Baseball finished with the no. 1 RPI in the country in the regular season.

During his time serving DBU Athletics, Knox has been a part of the addition of multiple sports at the Club and NCAA levels, including Bass Fishing, Cheerleading, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Dance, and Men’s Soccer. In addition, he assisted DBU Administration with the development of the following DBU Athletics facility projects: Burg renovation and resurface, Joan and Andy Horner Ballpark, Patriot Tennis Pavilion, Sedwick Soccer Fieldhouse and Grandstands, and the Athletic Training Center renovation.  Knox has worked diligently with DBU Administration and the DBU Global Missions department to successfully lead foreign mission trips to Brazil, China, England, and South Korea through the DBU Athletic Department's Global Sports Mission Initiative.

Knox served the Heartland Conference for three years as the Championships Coordinator, and is now a member of the Heartland Conference Championships Committee. In 2016, he completed a four year service with the NCAA as he represented DBU and the South Central Region as a member of the NCAA Division II National Tennis Championships Committee with shared oversight of the men’s and women’s tennis regional and national ranking process. 

Knox has previously served at Dallas Baptist University prior to his time in Patriot Athletics in the University Financial Aid Office before holding titles of Director of Student Services, Assistant Director of the DBU Fitness Center, and Assistant Director of Apartment Life all from 2006-2008. Within Patriot Athletics he has served as the Director of Sports Information from 2008-2009. While serving in this role, Knox was integral in the creation of the new cutting edge website, www.dbupatriots.com, in partnership with Sidearm Sports. He most recently served as the Assistant Director of Athletics from 2008-2013.

Knox is an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors (NACDA) and the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), where he sits on the Awards and Memberships Committee as a Division II representative. He has previously held membership to College Sports Information Director’s Association (COSIDA) and the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Knox graduated from Dallas Baptist University in August of 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurial Management.  He completed his Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing at DBU in December of 2009, a Master of Science in Kinesiology degree in May of 2015, and most recently completed a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership at DBU in August of 2018. In addition, he serves as an adjunct professor in the Dallas Baptist University College of Education.

Knox and his wife, Lauren, a 2010 DBU graduate, reside in Burleson, Texas, with their son and daughter, Jackson and Malone, and attend First Baptist Church in Burleson, Texas.
